              Thakorsa  Bawajiraj Rajadeja - Rajkot

In the eleventh of Rajkot, the ruler Meramanji came to the throne of Bawajiraj Rajkot after the fourth.  Rajkot was a second class state with 3 villages.  Bawajiraj was born on 20-6-18 but his mother Hariba died within two years.  As Bawajiraj was 9 years old at the time of his father's death, Nanba ruled the state with his grandmother.  Bawajiraj was educated at Rajkumar College.  He was a royal scholar, a good reader, sociable, courageous, majestic and knowledgeable of the law.  There were those who lived full of simplicity.  They had eleven queens including (1) Kunwari Chandba of Wankaner (2) Sayla's Kunwari Keshaba (3) Kundla Jhala's Kunwari Bajirajba (4) Sayla's Kunwari II (5) Sindhavdar's Kunwari Hajuba (Kanpur's)(6) Sindhavadarnakunwari Sundarba (7) Lakhanka Gohil Kunwari Gaguba.  Three of the eleven queens were alive at the time of his death.  Kumarshree Lakhajiraj was born in Sardhar by Rani Anand Kunwarba of Dharampur.  Bavajiraj traveled to Hindustan in 19 AD.  Bawajiraja also made many reforms in his state.  In it, he started a riot by defeating Ganot instead of Bhagwatai in some places and established an appellate court and a small court in which he himself sat as a judge.  During the drought of 19, the old lake of Sardhar and the old Darbargadh were repaired at a cost of Rs.  Kotharia built a magnificent palace in the royal garden of Rajkot outside Naka.  He gave land in which the lake of Randarda was to be built at the expense of the kings of Kathiawar.  In the time of Bawajiraj, the state of Rajkot could have executed its ryots with total power in civil work and in criminal work, but the foreign state had to seek the approval of the British government to impose the death penalty.  It was Bawajiraja who gave 5 acres of land for a civil station in Rajkot to the British government at a rent of Rs.500.  During his time libraries were opened in Rajkot and Sardhar and suburban and market bonds and municipalities were established and the proper constitution of the municipality was framed.  He was a prince who made a good effort to develop Rajkot and the old capital Sardhar.  Bawajiraj died on 11-9-190 at a young age in a severe illness of one month.  But even today a school named after him runs in Rajkot, the way students remember this prince every day.  Bawajiraja made the state stronger and better by introducing Rajkot into the modern age.  The population of Rajkot city in 181 is 31,13.  6 in 181, 5,171 in 1901.  4,15 in 1911.  5,114 in 181; 4,114 in 151.  In the year 181, 2,6.  Is.  16,09 out of 181  18,12 in 181.
