Thakorsa Jaswant Singhji Zala- Limbdi

                   Thakorsa Jaswant Singhji Zala- Limbdi

Limbdi was a second class state of Zala rulers with 6 villages.  Fateh Singhji Jaswant Singhji died at the age of only 6 years. He ascended the throne on 20-1-16 but as he was a child, he was given the full power by Mata Hariba and the British administration from 18 to 19 respectively.  He was born in 18 AD and received his primary education in Limbdi and at home.  He then went to Prince College and there he showed his talent and studied up to non-matric.  They had four queens, many students studying in Rajkumar College had the opportunity to travel abroad with his principal, Jaswant Singhji traveled abroad twice.  He had some special qualities, such as personal oversight of the state administration, self-determination of judicial questions and constant presence in the office. These qualities greatly benefited the state.  During his reign, the state of Limbdi made a lot of progress and during his tenure, eminent persons in Limbdi included dignitaries like Governor of Mumbai James Ferguson, Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad, Governor of Mumbai Lore, Swami Vivekananda etc.  Jaswant Singhji built a magnificent tower bungalow in Darbargarh, painted foreign artistic furniture in it, put up a magnificent clock that rang for fifteen minutes and built a building with a court office.  They built water works, canals, gardens for the people and for education built Jaswant Singhji Middle School and Sir Jaswant Singhji High School in 1904 and also established girls school and library.  As Jaswant Singhji was a shrewd and diplomatic prince, in the past the British ruled over Barwala.  She made the right representations in the fight.  Just like every prince builds villages in the name of himself and other relatives, Jaswant Singhji built new villages and settled Umedpur in 17 AD from his younger brother Umed Singhji.  Apart from this, 17 new temples named Devasthal, Jalampur and Yashwantpur were established in AD.  Karan Singhji Lakhtar and Jaswant Singhji were both brothers.  When he went on a pilgrimage to Char Dham, he ruled for fourteen months and in that list of friendships and events, Karan Singhji established Jaswant Singhji High School in the same way.  Jaswant Singhji had great faith in religion and many great men were satsangs of saints.  During his time Swami Vivekananda came to Limbdi and became his guest in Darbargarh and then he made recommendations to go to another place in Saurashtra.  He passed away at Mahabaleshwar on 18-9-1908.  He made Limbdi a famous city by providing many beautiful facilities and religious decoration.  He had no son so he got the charter of adoption.
