Thakorsa. Sangramji Jadeja - Gondal

                Thakorsa Sangramji Jadeja - Gondal

Gondal was a first class state of Jadejas with an area of 104 square miles and 18 villages in the state.  The Gondal kingdom was founded by Kumbhoji.  They paid an annual ransom of Rs. 2,08 to the British government, Rs. 21,018 to Gaekwad and Rs. 203 to Junagadh.  The twelfth ruler of Gondal was Bhanabhai (161 to 161 AD).  After his death, Sangramji came to the throne of Gondal.  He was calm, relaxed and religious and was absorbed in Lord Bhajan.  His queen's name was Ramba who was under the influence of Ramba Vadaran Jashoda.  This led to strife in the state.  Jashoda played a part in a Gondal kingdom like Manthra hence it came to be known in the Gondal kingdom as Jashoda Fui.  Since Sangramji was naive, there were many quarrels in the state.  Sangramji was born in Bhanabhai's house Rajba Motiba on 5-9-16.  He also had a brother named Mulubha.  He took over the employment on 16-12-17 and immediately tried to get the state out of debt and paid off the old debt and increased the annual income to Rs. 30.0.  They fortified the fort of Upleta Mahal, the stronghold of the city surrounding Bhayavadar and the villages of Kolki and Marad of Dhoraji Mahal.  An English school reading room, a hospital, a travel bungalow and an inn were built in Gondal.  In addition, many schools were opened all over the state to provide free education to the children of the poor.  He was very popular among the people because of his sociable nature.  They ruled so well that people from other cities started settling in Gondal and then trade revenue and population increased tremendously.  In his time, in the year 19 AD, Gunatit Swami performed the Khat Muhurat of Swaminarayan in Gondal.  Sangramji had three queens namely Ramba, Sadaba and Monghiba.  In it, Monghiba gave birth to Bhagwat on 8-10-17 in Dhoraji's Darbargarh.  Sangramji had three sons.  (1) Prithiraj (Pathubha) (2) Balsinh (3) Bhagwat Singhji.  Sangramji was devastated when Pathubha died at the age of 71.  Not talking to anyone or even communicating in the office and running the state rare butch.  At such a time Banidas, the great poet of Rangpar, came and he composed a quick poem and Sangramji listened to him and recovered a little.  Swami Gunatitananda also preached to Gondal Aavi Sangramji and brought him out of mourning.  Then when Bhagwat was born, Sangramji made Gunatitaji gondal and requested him to name Kunwar.  Sangramji died on February 18 in Mumbai (Ruling Princess says 19 AD, p. 4).  Dulerai Datri was an independent thinker and therefore did not even obey Thakore's order, so Thakore complained to the agency to change it but it seemed baseless.  So Thakor had to go to Mumbai where he stayed for eight months and died there.
